An award-winning farm winery at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains just hit the market for $12 million.
This enormous, 210-acre property in Crozet, VA, is home to White Hall Vineyards.
“The first property I ever sold back in 1988 was this piece of raw farmland,” says listing agent Richard Walden, of Virginia Estates. “I had a construction company at the time, so I sat down with the buyers, we came up with a design, and I built the house that is now on property.”

Walden notes there were only about 35 wineries in Virginia at the time, but that number has since grown to more than 300.
“In the Monticello AVA, it was just voted the Best Wine Region in America,” Walden says, referring to the designation given by Wine Enthusiast magazine in 2023. “It is a pretty intensely purposed wine-growing region. A lot of growing regions in the world have had issues with climate change, but for some reason, the Virginia climate has remained perfect.”
Buyers popping up
The listing is available as two different offerings: an 11-bedroom, 7.5-bath home on 37.5 acres for $5.5 million (contingent on county approval) or the entire winery with the home on 210 acres for $12 million.
“It came on the market last week, and we already have two people who are interested in buying it,” Walden reports. “We are hoping to get an offer this week. Both buyers were looking for a beautiful place in the country. Most people who were looking at it were looking for acreage near the mountains. They weren’t really looking for a winery.”

Picturesque property
Located about 14 miles northwest of Charlottesville, the massive property is at the ideal elevation for the production of Vinifera grapes on its 48 acres of estate vineyards.
The custom-built, stone residence on property was built in 1992 and sits on a knoll with breathtaking mountain views of Shenandoah National Park.
The residence and winery collectively span 22,685 square feet. There are also several outbuildings on property.
Walden is unsure whether the next owner will continue operating the business as a winery. Either way, he believes “it is a pretty spectacular place,” where anyone can simply enjoy the views.
“I think you could be happy sitting all day next to the pond and waterfall out back,” he says.
And sipping a glass of vino, no doubt.
