\u201cIt combines country living with city convenience because you are close to a lot of the attractions in Dutchess County, and you\u2019re not far from Westchester County and Putnam County,\u201d says Christina Weiss<\/strong> of Houlihan Lawrence<\/a>, the listing agent for the three-bedroom, 2.5-bath property for $1,150,000. The two yurts combined offer 2,621 square feet of living space.<\/p>\n

New York City<\/a> is a 90-minute drive south, and the nearest Metro-North station is 10 minutes away in Pawling<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The sellers bought the land in 2017 and then built the yurts connected by a breezeway.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey worked with an architect in Washington, Matthew Smith<\/strong> of Dream.Design.Build,<\/a> who specializes in these luxury cedar yurt designs,\u201d Weiss says.<\/p>\n

The sustainable design includes antique pocket doors and other materials that were saved from historic buildings and homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cA variety of businesses and allowances could happen with this land, but most people are looking at it as a second home or a primary home. My client lives here full time. She just loves the views,\u201d Weiss says.<\/p>\n

The main yurt features a chef\u2019s kitchen (marble countertops, walk-in pantry, and butcher-block island), living room, two bedrooms, and a bath. The primary bedroom is upstairs and boasts a rounded skylight.<\/p>\n

The other yurt is smaller and operates as a guest suite. It comes with a free-standing bathtub, wood-burning stove, and washer-dryer unit.<\/p>\n

The entry to this yurt is spacious and as architecturally intriguing as what follows.<\/p>\n

This rural retreat is move-in ready and comes with full electricity and modern mechanical systems. A luxury saltwater pool was added out back in 2019. There\u2019s also a greenhouse and chicken coop.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sun sets across from where the pool is,\u201d Weiss says. \u201cIn the summertime, you can view the sunset from the pool.\u201d<\/p>\n

Using the seller\u2019s plans, the buyer could finish building out the yurt\u2019s lower level, which would add an additional 1,000 square feet of living space with a full bathroom and sauna.<\/p>\n

The Appalachian Trail can be accessed from the property, adds Weiss. Also, \u201ca five-minute drive from the property is the Empire Trail, which runs all the way up to Canada from New York City. A lot of people bicycle that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The area features other attractions, she adds. \u201cDutchess County is definitely a hot market. We\u2019ve seen a lot of people move up there just because you can get more bang for your buck compared to Putnam County and Westchester County,\u201d Weiss says.<\/p>\n
