There’s a reason Christina Aguilera, Jack Haley Jr., and Liza Minnelli all chose this home: The rare 1960s architectural gem was designed by modernist icon Harry Gesner.

The Los Angeles property, listed for $8,399,000, offers pristine luxury and sweeping views of downtown L.A. and the Pacific Ocean.

“The views are unbeatable,” says listing agent Anita Stephan, of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties. “You’ll have panoramic vistas spanning 280 degrees that encompass downtown, SoFi Stadium, Catalina Island, Century City, and the ocean.”

The sprawling patio is perfect for lounging en masse.

Sleek showpiece

Completed in 1960, the four-bedroom, six-bathroom, 6,500-square-foot showpiece at 1443 Devlin Dr., is an exemplar of the architect’s visionary designs.

The New York Times described Gesner, who died in 2022 at the age of 97, as a “dashing, surf-loving architect whose soaring designs celebrated California’s dramatic landscape.”

Guests are welcomed at a geometric gate, which leads to an angled, slat-wood door branded with a “JH” doorknob—a nod to the home’s former owner, director Jack Haley Jr.

Glass walls bring the outside inside, while a stone conversation pit with a fireplace creates a sleek, natural focal point. There are several spaces throughout the property that accentuate that home’s relationship with nature.

“The wraparound porch beautifully frames the surrounding views,” Stephan says, adding that on the upper deck, “the spa enjoys a distinct elevation, complete with its own roof structure and fireplace, creating a secluded retreat within the home.”

The capacious primary suite includes a fireplace, several lounging areas, and a generous walk-in closet. Nearby, the en suite bath is marble clad and includes a soaking tub, glass shower, additional fireplace, and yes—a three-sided aquarium.

“Floor-to-ceiling, sliding doors with skylights open onto a private exterior foyer overlooking the mountains and canyons, providing direct access to the entire backyard,” Stephan says.

Additional bedrooms feature exposed beams, accent walls, and private access to the wraparound patio.

The house was built for gracious living and hosting: A custom-built screening room offers plush seating, a wet bar, a temperature-controlled wine room, and a tasting area.

Meanwhile, the pool and lagoonlike spa, built-in barbecue, fireplace, and deck with dramatic city views set the stage for incredible, cinematic celebrations. Just minutes away is the Sunset Strip, convenient dining, shopping, and entertainment.
