The 4,624-square-foot, brightly hued house was built in 1966 and has had only three owners.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s listed for $4,250,000, and a buyer will probably need to be someone who prefers a vibrant look over the neutral palettes that are popular in so many homes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe colors that are used throughout the house were all original,\u201d explains listing agent Stock Jonekos<\/strong>, with Kentwood Real Estate Cherry Creek.<\/p>\n

Architect Donald R. Roark<\/strong> designed the home with trademark midcentury modern elements and pops of color that punch up the design.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone who came to the broker open this week said, wow, it\u2019s one of a kind, and it makes you feel happy when you\u2019re inside,\u201d Jonekos says. \u201cIt really does. It\u2019s got that great kind of indoor\/outdoor feel. The entire east side of the house is basically all glass opening up to this beautiful covered patio. It\u2019s just a nice, easy, breezy kind of living.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Very original and amazingly cool\u2019<\/h2>\n

The sellers bought the house in 2007. Jonekos says that while they were doing some minor renovating, they found some older wallpaper, which inspired some of the bold color choices.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just very original and amazingly cool for a 1966 house,\u201d he says. \u201cThey had to match the terrazzo tiles, so they literally engaged the company that made the original terrazzo tiles in 1966 to make new tiles, so they could finish the kitchen and breakfast areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other fixtures and furnishings are also period pieces, including some of the bathroom fixtures, which are Phylrich Swan and Dolphin faucets.<\/p>\n

Another of the home\u2019s attention-grabbing features is its step-down living room.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a sucker for a sunken sitting room with a fireplace,\u201d Jonekos\u00a0says with a laugh. \u201cI love it. Everyone who saw the house the other day thought that would be their favorite part of the house, to sit there in front of the fire [with a] skylight above letting in the light. You can also look to the outside to the front yard [and] the gardens and everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home has four bedrooms and four full bathrooms and an original, aqua-blue kitchen design.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are the original metal cabinets,\u201d Jonekos notes. \u201cThey have replaced some of the appliances, but the Nutone intercom system is still there. The skylight in that kitchen makes it incredibly bright and inviting to hang out in or cook in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside, there is the original \u201cMajestic Char-Grill\u201d outdoor kitchen and a zen-style water feature. Another in-floor water feature is a fun interior surprise. Along with the fountain, the columns are also original.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe house actually hangs on those posts,\u201d Jonekos explains. \u201cThey are a structural feature, and the roof and all the walls literally are supported by all those posts that run through the house.\u201d<\/p>\n

He says there are other midcentury homes in the neighborhood\u2014and that the buyer might already live in one and be a fan of the architecture. At least that\u2019s the hope.<\/p>\n

[The perfect buyer] \u201cwill definitely be someone who appreciates the open feel and doesn\u2019t want little closed off rooms,\u201d Jonekos says.<\/p>\n
