Of course, TV icon Bob Barker<\/strong> would own an iconic Hollywood home. The longtime host of \u201cThe Price Is Right\u201d game show lived in the Spanish Colonial Revival home for more than 50 years.<\/p>\n

Barker died in August at age 99, and now, his luxe home is fresh on the market, priced at $2,988,000.<\/p>\n

The property in the prestigious Outpost Estates is an official City of L.A. Historic-Cultural Monument.<\/p>\n

Home with history<\/h2>\n

The home was built in 1929 on the site of the original adobe, or \u201cOutpost,\u201d for which the neighborhood was named. Some say it was the very first home built in that part of the Hollywood Hills. Gen. Harrison Gray Otis<\/strong>, the founder of the Los Angeles Times, purchased the old adobe in 1880 and lived there until his death in 1917.<\/p>\n

Some years later, according to Mansion Global<\/a>, the property was sold to developer Charles E. Toberman<\/strong>, known for building the Hollywood Bowl.<\/p>\n

Toberman razed the old adobe and built the home Barker would eventually buy and cherish for so many years.<\/p>\n

The hilly enclave has long been a favorite of celebrities, including Bela Lugosi, Dolores del R\u00edo, Johnny Galecki,\u00a0Winona Ryder, Ben Affleck<\/strong>, and Orlando Bloom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The flat, grassy lot includes a sizable pool, as well as a distinguished oak tree that frames the property. Tall privacy hedges, roses, and bougainvillea also proliferate.<\/span><\/p>\n

Barker was a devoted animal rights activist.<\/p>\n
