An heirloom estate in New York\u2019s prestigious Tuxedo Park<\/a> is for sale for the first time in nearly 30 years. Listed for $9,980,000, the seven-bedroom lakeside Tudor known as The Breezes<\/a> was built by architect Robert Robertson<\/strong> in 1887 for Navy Lt. James L. Breese<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe name of the house is a play on his last name,\u201d says listing agent Corey Gardner<\/a><\/strong>. The original owner \u201cwas an engineer on the first trans-Atlantic flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1919 and was awarded a Navy Cross by Woodrow Wilson<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many original features remain in the home, including much of the millwork and some of the fixtures.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Baccarat chandelier and Tiffany windows in the foyer are all original, as is the Waterford chandelier and sconces in the dining room,\u201d says Gardner. \u201cExtinct tiger oak flooring and millwork can also be found throughout the home.\u201d<\/p>\n

A \u2018trophy\u2019 property<\/h2>\n

In the foyer powder room, you\u2019ll find an antique fountain imported from Italy and converted into a sink. The kitchen still holds the original safe that was used to store silver.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis property is one of what I call Tuxedo Park\u2019s trophy properties,\u201d Gardner says. \u201cMany of these homes stay in families for generations and rarely become available. It\u2019s one of the park\u2019s largest lakefront lots.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe property<\/a> has central AC and radiant heating in the kitchen and bathrooms,\u201d Gardner says. \u201cThe kitchen was also renovated and expanded in 2017 to include top-of-the-line appliances.\u201d<\/p>\n

A 1996 restoration involved rewiring all the light fixtures and restoring the interior woodwork.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cost to replicate this type of construction today would easily exceed $30 million,\u201d Gardner says. \u201cThe house also boasts a very unique stucco facade that features hand-inlaid stone that I\u2019ve never seen anywhere else.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 4.3-acre property is just a little over an hour\u2019s drive to Manhattan<\/a>.<\/p>\n
