An iconic Fire Island, NY<\/a>, property has reappeared on the market for $4,250,000.<\/p>\n

The luxurious, three-bedroom beach residence, known as the Pyramid House<\/a>\u00a0on Fire Island Pines<\/a>, was previously listed last August for $6.5 million.<\/p>\n

The 2,100-square-foot abode with arresting angles was originally built in 1961 by architect Julio Kaufman<\/strong> for the family of John Goodwin<\/strong>, a nephew of famed financier J. P. Morgan<\/strong>. It underwent a complete renovation in 2006 by architect Hal Hayes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The result is a timeless, midcentury modern masterpiece.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe home<\/a> is extremely private, with a casual yet sophisticated elegance,\u201d says listing agent Glenn Rice<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cThe great room has 25-foot ceilings and a wall of glass looking out over miles of protected dune scapes, the bay, and the ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n

The great room also includes a double-sided, wood-burning fireplace that connects the main living room and kitchen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pyramid shape of the main house creates a most impressive and unusual room,\u201d says Rice. \u201cThat, coupled with the view, makes it like you\u2019re living at the end of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outdoors is a pool and poolside guest cabana that includes two more bedrooms and a shared bathroom, all pyramid shaped, naturally. Multiple decks add to the airy, private setting.<\/p>\n

Island escape<\/h2>\n

The location is nearly as iconic as the architecture, as Fire Island has long been a hub of all things bohemian and coastal luxury. The home\u2019s other famous former residents, including playwright Paul Rudnick<\/strong>, embody this lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cFire Island is only reachable by boat, which attracts a certain kind of person\u2014like someone looking for relaxation and more of a disconnect,\u201d Rice says. \u201cBecause there are no cars on the island, there\u2019s a real sense of escape.\u201d<\/p>\n

Everything on Fire Island can easily be accessed on foot, whether that\u2019s a two-minute walk to the beach or a 12-minute walk into town.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are shops, bars, restaurants, and The Pantry, which is our grocery store, [and] has absolutely everything you need,\u201d Rice says. \u201cThe butcher, for example, is top notch.\u201d<\/p>\n
