The objective was to construct a modern, two-story addition and restore the interior of the existing structure.

“Mermans produced an incredible, contrasting addition design for the new kitchen, breakfast, and family room,” Ewers explains. “The restoration was also incredibly involved. We had to fully remove all mechanical systems and replace them with new plumbing, HVAC, and electrical.”

Other renovation highlights include a 12-foot sliding door that leads out to a terrace, along with an all-new pool and spa area. Indoors, wide-open spaces with chic built-ins and fixtures adorn nearly every corner of the spacious, six-bedroom estate.

Following the painstaking three-year renovation, work on the home was completed in 2022. Shortly after, the house received the Axios Charlotte’s 2023 Home of the Year award.

“This home is truly a one-of-kind,” says Ewers. “It’s already stood the test of time and is ready for the next chapter.”

The post After Award-Winning Renovation, Historic Charlotte Estate Hits the Market for $5.7M appeared first on Real Estate News & Insights | realtor.com®.

Realtor.com A historical estate just 10 minutes from uptown Charlotte, NC, has been listed for $5,750,000.
