And buyers in search of a masterpiece with no detail left unconsidered are in luck. A home designed<\/a> by one of the country\u2019s most renowned architects is listed for $3.75 million in Franklin, TN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Architect Earl Swensson<\/strong> (1930-2022) created this four-bedroom residence in Tennessee for himself and his family. Completed in 1978, the 7,656-square-foot home sits on a generous 3.3-acre lot.<\/p>\n

Anyone who has spent time in Nashville<\/a> will be familiar with Swensson\u2019s work. In 1961, he founded Earl Swensson Associates (now known as ESa) and hired his wife Sue as his first employee.<\/p>\n

Several of his designs are landmarks in Music City, including the Batman Building, Wildhorse Saloon, the AT&T Building, as well as Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center.<\/p>\n

A personal project<\/h2>\n

Swensson\u2019s commercial and personal projects were designed with the same philosophy: keeping the people who will use them, and what they most desire, in mind. But those familiar with his large-scale commercial projects will find something different in his personal home.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis notable public architectural designs created public spaces that are impressive and highly noticeable from every angle,\u201d says listing agent is Marty Warren<\/strong>, with Zeitlin Sotheby\u2019s International Realty.<\/p>\n

Yet, Swensson\u2019s own home melds into the surrounding landscape with little external flourish.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis wife Sue influenced the design of this home to incorporate the majestic views of the valley below and the surrounding hillsides, which reminded her of her childhood home in Shenandoah Valley,\u201d Warren says. \u201cAnd the street-side appearance was designed to be low-profile, creating privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The interior merges modern aesthetics with timeless and elegant design. There are large bedrooms, a gourmet kitchen, an elevator, a finished basement, and two fireplaces.<\/p>\n

A particular standout on the property is the three-car garage, which has a granite floor and a glass interior wall. The space was \u201cdesigned to showcase Mr. Swensson\u2019s collection of beautiful automobiles,\u201d Warren notes.<\/p>\n

According to the agent, the landscaping is another highlight.<\/p>\n

\u201cA serpentine, Nashville-brick wall stretches across the front-road boundary of the property, creating privacy,\u201d Warren notes. \u201cThis wall eventually merges with the residence itself. The left side yard, which once included a tennis court, would be perfect for a pool, adjoining terraces, and perhaps a pickleball court.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buyers who place a premium on beautiful but thoughtful details, inside and out, will be especially delighted by this sumptuous setup.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdeally, a new owner would have an appreciation for design and function,\u201d Warren says. \u201cThe main-floor living space offers sweeping vistas from every room. The historic Natchez Trace and the Tennessee hillside merge together with expansive covered porches, decks, and terraces created for outdoor loving.\u201d<\/p>\n
