The seven-bedroom residence<\/a> designed by architect John Koster<\/strong> was built in 1969 for its one owner, Francis Mechner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe design was Francis\u2019 passion and idea,\u201d\u00a0says listing agent Amy Via<\/strong>, of Houlihan Lawrence. \u201cHe interviewed several architects at the time that he felt could work with developing plans for the home. He was looking to develop a very special and unique home for his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

With its curved arc; exposed-beam, wood ceiling; and walls of windows that flood the space with natural light, the uniquely designed home provides a smooth transition from the interior to the exterior. The focal point of the main living area centers on a glass-domed, indoor pool.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe home quickly became a destination spot for all of their friends,\u201d Via says of the owners, adding that the dwelling\u2019s 6,814 square feet were well thought out.\u00a0\u201cEven though it feels large, it is very connected. The bedrooms are on the first and second levels, and the pool wraps around off the midlevel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Situated on 8.8 acres, the home is nestled into a forested lot that is said to boast some of the best views.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you look across, you get these beautiful vistas,\u201d Via says. \u201cThe lot is wooded with stone outcroppings, as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

And the locale can\u2019t be topped. It\u2019s just 10 minutes from a Whole Foods and roughly\u00a040 minutes to Midtown<\/a>\u00a0Manhattan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you are inside, you feel like you are in Shangri-La, yet you are just a few minutes away from everything,\u201d Via says.<\/p>\n

Ready for \u2018reawakening\u2019<\/h2>\n

The house does need some finishing touches. The kitchen is \u201cawaiting its reawakening,\u201d and an upstairs, bilevel primary suite is \u201cwaiting for a new owner\u2019s vision,\u201d Via notes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrancis thought he was going to renovate the home, so the kitchen and primary suite are looking for someone with their own vision,\u201d she says. \u201cIt is a canvas to recreate your own aesthetic.\u201d<\/p>\n

A log cabin from the 1920s is another fun surprise on the property.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was used as a playroom for the kids when they were growing up, but is now a storage area that could also be restored,\u201d Via points out.<\/p>\n

The midcentury modern home\u2019s interior incorporates lots of glass to seamlessly transition to the outdoors, as well as the indoor pool.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pool area is like a little oasis,\u201d Via says. \u201cThere is a lot of wood and glass. The home was really built not on top of the land but with the land.\u201d<\/p>\n

She believes the next owner will use the home as a primary residence just as the Mechners have. Specifically, she predicts the buyers might be a younger couple looking for a unique home.<\/p>\n

It could be someone who \u201cwants a real creative aesthetic,\u201d Via says. \u201cIt could also be someone from up county or someone from the city looking to escape but be close enough to the city, as more companies have gone from fully remote back to the office.\u00a0It\u2019s just an amazing opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind residence.\u201d<\/p>\n
