\u201cThe castle was built as a tribute to the owner\u2019s grandparents. He\u2019s from a notable family in the area, and they just really felt like they needed a notable residence,\u201d explains listing agent John Davis<\/strong>, with InEugene Real Estate.<\/p>\n

The 4,141-square-foot castle, which was built in 1999, recently topped our weekly ranking of the most popular listings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s an amazing place. You get up there and there\u2019s a little bit of a sense of mystery and magic to it, and the views are incredible,\u201d Davis says. \u201cEveryone has the same sort of reaction to it, which is, \u2018Oh my gosh, really?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis says there has been plenty of interest in the home, which will require some finishing touches.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe turret is pretty interesting. There isn\u2019t anything built on the inside of the turret. It has been sort of a project that has been delayed,\u201d he explains. \u201cYou look up there, and it\u2019s sort of a tube. When people come and look at it, they say they wish they could walk up there and look around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis suggests building stairs inside it to make it a lofty perch worthy of a princess.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been a couple of [potential] buyers who have had big dreams surrounding this property,\u201d he explains. \u201cThey\u2019ve talked about clearing the view a little bit and improving the turret so you could have a nice spot up there to sort of hang out and get more of the view.\u201d<\/p>\n

The castle comes with 6.84 acres in a grape-friendly region dotted with wineries. It\u2019s the kind of place an owner would love to get cozy in with a glass of local pinot noir.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a hilltop castle nestled within the trees, and it\u2019s very private,\u201d Davis says.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s so hidden, he continues, many people who live in the area had no idea the castle was even t here.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe reaction I\u2019m getting is pretty incredible. I wasn\u2019t sure when I listed it that people would just immediately react, but that\u2019s been the case,\u201d he says. \u201cI think it has captured the imagination of the area. Eugene isn\u2019t exactly known for architectural wonders. Discovering a castle upon a hilltop in the forest has been really inspiring to a lot of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The sellers are working on a few outstanding issues, including a possible roof leak that is causing some discoloration on interior walls, Davis says. Overall, the home is in solid shape.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe owner has worked on it for a long time,\u201d he says. \u201cI think he\u2019s looking for someone to take on the challenge of making it sort of a centerpiece of the area.\u201d<\/p>\n
