The Stebel House<\/a>\u00a0in Los Angeles<\/a>, designed by \u201cmaverick\u201d architect Harry Gesner<\/strong>, just landed on the market for $3,497,900.<\/p>\n

And after a little more than a week, the home is now in \u201ccontingent\u201d sale status.<\/p>\n

Built in 1961, the jaw-dropping design of the three-bedroom abode spans 2,726 square feet in a secluded area with canyon and treetop views.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was honored to represent the original owners and the buyers on the sale and am now selling it for these current owners who bought it in 2020,\u201d says listing agent Todd Michaud<\/strong>, of Keller Williams Realty Hollywood Hills. \u201cThis is only the second time it has ever been on the market. Harry Gesner passed away last year, and his son, Zen Gesner<\/strong>, said his father would be so happy to see it in the amazing condition it\u2019s in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Ahead of its time\u2019 design<\/h2>\n

From the exterior, a beamed and bolted X-frame structure serves as the foundation for the unusual A-frame design. Another standout feature is the towering gables that create the appearance of the roof and walls being one in the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe roof line goes all the way to the ground, which is a really neat feature,\u201d Michaud notes. \u201cThe design was way ahead of its time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inside, the soaring floor plan boasts dramatic, 20-foot ceilings on the main level with equally impressive 18-foot ceilings upstairs.<\/p>\n

Built in 1961, the residence has a dramatic interior and striking exterior silhouette that have withstood the test of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been some tasteful renovations done over the years, but the original vision remains the same,\u201d Michaud says. \u201cHarry Gesner once said he considered this house to be one of the best of homes of his career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Triangular windows, designed to let natural light flood the space, provide canyon views. Meanwhile, a triangulated bonus room with clerestory windows pays homage to the home\u2019s midcentury roots.<\/p>\n

Original, stained-glass windows; wood-paneled walls; floor-to-ceiling walls of glass; and a sunken living room with a brick fireplace are a few other design highlights.<\/p>\n

Curvilinear walls are found in the dining room, kitchen, and bar, while a curved staircase separates the kitchen and bar areas. The timeless kitchen has modern appliances and flows seamlessly into a period-loyal dining room.<\/p>\n

The eye-catching home hadn\u2019t been on the market long before a buyer stepped forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe received multiple offers over asking for the home over the first couple of days that it was on the market,\u201d Michaud says.\u00a0\u201cHarry Gesner\u2019s legacy, the fact that there is not a lot of inventory in general, and finding a midcentury modern home of this caliber at this price point are just a few reasons I think this property attracted a buyer so quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

He notes that the one-of-a-kind listing drew an eclectic group of interested buyers.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarly on, it seemed to be a lot of 20-somethings,\u201d he says. \u201cThen we had everyone from business people, actors, designers, architects, musicians, and even realtors.\u00a0It is just so different and a very exciting home, so it has a very broad appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n
