A storybook-style home at 1919 E Pinecrest Road<\/a> in Spokane, WA<\/a>, is on the market for $2.3 million and ready for its next chapter.<\/p>\n

The enchanting abode\u2019s high-peaked rooftops, curved chimneys, and ornate brickwork are the stuff of fairy-tale (and architectural) dreams.<\/p>\n

The impressive design is the work of late local architect Glen Cloninger<\/strong>, who built and lived in the home. Despite its unique profile, the five-bedroom, five-bath property is one of several Cloninger designs in the Grapetree neighborhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cGlen A. Cloninger left a lasting legacy in Spokane and surrounding areas with his unique and celebrated architecture,\u201d says listing agent Patricia O\u2019Callaghan<\/strong>. \u201cHis use of brick and stone became a signature of his work, and he designed many of the twisted-chimney mansions on this street.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the the home<\/a>\u2018s fantastical quality doesn\u2019t stop at the front door. Just inside, there\u2019s a marbled grand entry, curved stairwell, and main-floor library filled with custom shelving.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe home was built with forward thinking about how a family would live in it,\u201d O\u2019Callaghan says. \u201cCloninger lived here until he passed away. The only updates made were the quartz waterfall countertops.\u201d<\/p>\n

Built in 1992, the more than 6,000-square-foot space has a surprisingly up-to-date interior\u2014there\u2019s a bright white kitchen, second-floor bedrooms with high ceilings, and bathrooms decked out in granite and marble.<\/p>\n

The third-acre lot also makes the best use of its outdoor space. A private backyard can be enjoyed from the first-floor, main-suite balcony or from a deck just off the living room.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe construction details are truly something out of a magazine,\u201d says O\u2019Callaghan. \u201cYou don\u2019t find this kind of custom mill work, libraries, crown and base moldings in new construction\u2014the brickwork and slate roof alone are irreplaceable.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the property feels removed from city life, downtown Spokane is just a few minutes away.<\/p>\n

\u201cClients are always surprised that our high-end market is so close to the downtown,\u201d O\u2019Callaghan says. \u201cConcerts in the parks, fun runs, and all the art and culture are a large part of what makes Spokane so appealing.\u201d<\/p>\n
