New wave music lovers know Gerald<\/strong> \u201cJerry\u201d Casale<\/strong> as the co-founder, co-lead vocalist, and bass player of the influential group Devo. Fewer know of his longtime interest in California wines.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s becoming more apparent now, as Casale puts his famous Hollywood studio\/residence<\/a> on the market for $4,995,000, according to property records.<\/p>\n

The Ohio native has moved full time to a ranch<\/a> in Napa, CA<\/a>, where he\u2019s focused on marketing<\/a> the fruit of the vine.<\/p>\n

Casale\u2019s storied\u00a0Los Angeles<\/a> compound has been the site of many prominent audio and video productions.<\/p>\n

The place was originally built in 1962 in the heart Hollywood. It has since been transformed into a cutting-edge music studio on the first floor and a modern, private residence on the second.<\/p>\n

The 6,800-square-foot lot is surrounded by high walls and sealed off by secure gates, which open to a six-car motor court\u00a0with parking for guests or clients.<\/p>\n

The first-level entrance of the 4,900-square-foot building features a lobby that leads to meticulously designed studio spaces with recording rooms and a state-of-the-art control room. The facility is outfitted with just about everything a modern recording artist could want.<\/p>\n

Upstairs, a living room, dining area, and modern kitchen comprise the open-plan great room. There\u2019s also an office, bedroom, laundry room, and three baths.<\/p>\n

Casale founded Devo, along with brother\u00a0Bob Casale<\/strong>, Mark\u00a0Mothersbaugh<\/strong>, and Bob<\/strong> Mothersbaugh<\/strong>, in the early 1970s. He\u2019s probably best known for the hit \u201cWhip It.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also had a successful solo career and has produced hit music videos for Devo and other groups.<\/p>\n

But Casale\u2019s also had a long-standing interest is wine, since moving to California more than 40 years ago. He has been involved in many aspects of the winemaking and marketing process.<\/p>\n

Listing agent Max Shapiro<\/strong>, of Westside Estate Agency, says qualified buyers who make appointments for showings will meet the owner to learn more about the property\u2019s broad range of residential and recording functionality.<\/p>\n
