Built in 1966, the hexagon-shaped house has had only one owner. The property was listed in early August for $999,000 and snagged several offers in just a few days.\u00a0The listing is now off the market.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of people that love midcentury modern,\u201d observes listing agent Sharon Bodnar Briskman<\/strong>, who is representing the home with Nancy Beard<\/strong>, both of Houlihan Lawrence BriarCliff Manor Brokerage.<\/p>\n

Hexagon-filled home<\/h2>\n

The house comprises four hexagons that create three distinct living spaces: living, sleeping, and utility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s my favorite thing, the way it separates all of the areas,\u201d Bodnar Briskman says. \u201cIt\u2019s done with beauty and shape and style.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are five bedrooms and four full bathrooms, most of which are in the sleep-designated hexagon.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s so ingenious how they planned this house, because they were ahead of their time,\u201d Beard notes. \u201cThere are so many spaces that are planned out in this wonderful, hexagonal layout that allows for office space, privacy, and utilitarian spaces that you wouldn\u2019t necessarily have thought of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home\u2019s entry, crowned by a vaulted ceiling, is a real showstopper.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you walk into this home, people are wowed in that front entryway,\u201d Beard says. \u201cYou look up, and your eye goes soaring up to this hexagon with this incredible fixture that is just perfect for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The living-space hexagon has 12-foot ceilings and opens to the adjacent dining area.<\/p>\n

Everything in the house is in relatively good shape, as far as the listing agents can tell.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe owners kept it up, and the mechanicals were done in the 1990s,\u201d Beard says. \u201cThey certainly used fine materials when they built this. The home was their pride and joy, and they used materials that would stand the test of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Glass sliders and large windows open from the living areas to the nearly 1-acre property that borders a country club with a wooded area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe grounds are just beautiful,\u201d Bodnar Briskman says. \u201cYou have a magnificent front facade, which is very long and wide, and you have a very large driveway. In the back, you have a gorgeous patio in that hexagon-type shaping,\u201d<\/p>\n

Beard says the driveway and the home\u2019s setback from the street attracted the location scouts for the 2007 Ridley Scott movie, \u201cAmerican Gangster.\u201d <\/em>The property served as a backdrop for the home of Detective Tupo, a character played by actor Josh Brolin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was his home, and his prized automobile blows up in the driveway,\u201d Beard says.\u00a0\u201cThe scouts drove down the street and saw the house and how it sat up from the road, and they loved that look and they picked it.\u201d<\/p>\n
