The 1961 midcentury modern home recently underwent a major renovation, except<\/em> for the fire-engine red fireplace that commands all the attention in the living room.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s more than just a punch of panache in the otherwise black-and-white house; the fireplace heats the stylish, 948-square-foot stylish space.<\/p>\n

The a-mazing, one-bedroom, one-bath A-frame is listed for $520,000. The place last sold in 2021 for $217,000, according to Realtor.com\u00ae.<\/p>\n

The sellers \u201ccompletely reimagined the layout and the cosmetic details, with the intention of keeping one original artifact of the house intact, which is the red fireplace,\u201d\u00a0says Dani Rosenthal<\/strong>, of the Wheeler Steffen Team at Sotheby\u2019s International Realty. She\u2019s co-listing with Rob Kallick<\/strong>, of the Take Sunset Team at Compass. \u201cThe remodel is centered around maintaining that original piece of the home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cRather than squeeze multiple small spaces into the shell of the home, they opted for singular larger spaces,\u201d Rosenthal explains. \u201cThe one bedroom is the loft, and the kitchen spans the side of the house.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the sellers bought the place two years ago, it was neglected and needed work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey wanted to give it a new life that would be appreciated by those who appreciate art, design, and architecture,\u201d Rosenthal says. \u201cThey went for a sexy, chic, and moody vibe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Metal sliding doors open to a large deck that extends the living space outside. From inside, the windows frame the natural surroundings, almost like a painting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe property has mature trees that are so beautiful and unique,\u201d Rosenthal notes. \u201cThe street is a beautiful, canopied street, and the goal was to also provide a piece of art for the inside of the house by using those open windows.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aside from the striking, dark hue, the black-oak exterior looks a bit more traditional than the interior.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt does emulate other homes in the area, but it\u2019s one of those things where you walk in and you\u2019re just surprised and really captured by the design details they chose,\u201d Rosenthal says.<\/p>\n

Crestline is a small, mountain town about an hour and 20 minutes from Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels super tucked away and hidden, but you\u2019re in very close proximity to amenities,\u201d Rosenthal says, adding that the cabin is perfect for \u201ca writer or artist who just wants a really special and serene place to escape from any type of busy life.\u201d<\/p>\n
