\u201cThere isn\u2019t a single rectangular line in the house\u2014everything is done on a diagonal grid,\u201d says Sharon Verani<\/strong>, who is listing the property with Mark Ogden<\/strong>, both of of Sotheby\u2019s International Realty \u2013 Pasadena Brokerage<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ve literally never been in another house like this, and I don\u2019t know if I ever will. You\u2019re living in this work of art in a beautiful, natural setting.\u201d<\/p>\n

While designing this space, the younger Wright was clearly inspired by his father\u2019s trademark Usonian style, with its horizontal lines, ribbed concrete walls, expansive glass panels, and striking rooflines.<\/p>\n

An asymmetric fireplace in the living room and a built-in couch in the library are other wow-worthy design elements here.<\/p>\n

The sleek dwelling sits on a .68-acre lot and has a built-in barbecue, diagonally scored patio, and rectangular reflecting pool.\u00a0The sellers bought the property in 2016 for $2.2 million, according to Realtor.com\u00ae.<\/p>\n

Restored residence<\/h2>\n

While the architecturally significant abode has been thoughtfully updated with modern comforts, its historic character remains firmly intact.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was so well done by an architect that you can\u2019t tell what\u2019s original and what\u2019s not,\u201d Verani says. \u201cIt\u2019s a seamless restoration and very tasteful. It\u2019s exactly like Frank Lloyd Wright Jr. intended, and there\u2019s this great flow.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home now features a modernized kitchen with black-walnut cabinetry, stainless steel countertops, and a six-burner Viking range.<\/p>\n

Other improvements include updated systems, built-ins in one bedroom, and new French doors throughout. Two particularly notable additions are the solar panels and electric car charger.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe primary suite is all on the north side of the house,\u201d Verani says, noting that the bedroom has a walk-through closet, sitting room with a fireplace, and a bathroom with dual sinks and a separate tub and shower.<\/p>\n

So, architecture lovers aside, what type of buyer is likely to snag this place? La Canada Flintridge itself is a draw, as is this particular neighborhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have great schools, and it\u2019s a little bit quieter,\u201d Verani says. \u201cIt\u2019s very peaceful where this house is set. \u00a0It feels like you\u2019re removed from L.A., but you\u2019re really not that far.\u00a0We\u2019re targeting someone who wants to love it and preserve it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because of the home\u2019s historical significance, it\u2019s been designated under California\u2019s Mills Act, which is\u00a0linked to the state\u2019s Office of Historic Preservation. This gives owners certain property tax advantages and supports continued preservation.<\/p>\n
