A spaceship-style home has just touched down on the market in Spokane, WA<\/a>, for $850,000.<\/p>\n

The far-out, four-bedroom residence<\/a> boasts 3,242 square feet of stylish design. Built in 1965, the home has been updated over the years but remains true to its midcentury roots.<\/p>\n

The house last sold in 2010 for $369,500.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey redid the kitchen while keeping a lot of the elements,\u201d says listing agent Joel Elgee<\/strong>, of Avalon 24 Real Estate. \u201cThe bathrooms have original tile. The kitchen cabinets have been redone and feature concrete countertops.\u201d<\/p>\n

The unique abode was designed by architect Warren Heylman<\/strong>, whose work includes the Spokane Airport, Regional Health Building, and the Parkade Plaza. He died<\/a> in 2022 at the age of 98.<\/p>\n

\u201cWarren Heylman was a midcentury modern architect who was groundbreaking for his era,\u201d Elgee says.<\/p>\n

In addition to the home\u2019s unique design, the property\u2019s double lot on nearly three-quarters of an acre also makes it a real standout.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe house is tucked away and nestled in the woods, so you feel like you are in your own forest,\u201d Elgee observes. \u201cThe setting is also really cool, as it was built into salt rock on a big, oversized lot in a sought-after neighborhood called the South Hill. It feels like you are in a private enclave, but you are just minutes from downtown Spokane.\u00a0There are tree-lined streets and parks with a very community-centric layout.\u201d<\/p>\n

The minimalist interior features light-wood floors, clean lines, and walls of windows.<\/p>\n

A modern kitchen has custom cabinets, an arched window design, and stainless steel appliances. According to the listing, a huge skylight \u201cserves as a focal point to the rest of the home and lets in tons of natural light.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elgee believes the next owner will be looking for something unique and special.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe home\u2019s architectural integrity is not your everyday design,\u201d he says.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s a one-of-a-kind home that has all of the creature comforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
