Within a matter of hours, offers came in for a 1970s-era time capsule<\/a> in Memphis, TN<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough it was built half a century ago, it\u2019s exactly what people seem to be looking for today,\u201d says listing agent Barbie Dan<\/strong>, with Ware Jones Realtors.\u00a0\u201cMost people that looked at it really saw the beauty of the simplicity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The well-maintained home hit the market in early April, with a list price of $575,000 and is pending sale.<\/p>\n

\u201cI put it on the market maybe at 8:30 in the morning on a Monday, and people started making appointments immediately,\u201d Dan says. \u201cThat first evening, we had three offers.\u00a0\u2026 People were really fighting over this home, which was really special.\u201d<\/p>\n

The house is set on a little more than an acre and was built by architect Jimmy Lindy<\/strong>. The impressively preserved space had only one owner.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom what I understand, it was the first home that [Lindy] designed, and we were able to get all the original architectural plans,\u201d Dan explains. \u201cIt\u2019s perfect for someone [like the owners], who just wanted to be one with nature.\u201d<\/p>\n

The home has four bedrooms, four baths, and many original features, including slate in the entry, walls of glass, and a dual-sided fireplace.<\/p>\n

Dan notes that the home\u2019s owners left all of its \u201970s design details intact over the years.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has the original Geneva kitchen cabinets, which are metal cabinets and were very popular in that era,\u201d she says. \u201cPeople still love them for their historic value, plus they\u2019re really good cabinets.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dan acknowledges the house needs a bit of work. For example, the baths are original. But overall, the home is in good condition.<\/p>\n

The furnishings are not included in the listing and will be sold at an estate sale.<\/p>\n

The owners\u2019 three children, who are now in their 60s, were all raised here.\u00a0The seller is in her 80s and has continued living in the home since her husband\u2019s death a few years ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey loved the house, and they just enjoyed living there,\u201d Dan says.<\/p>\n

Dan lives near the home and had noticed its unusual exterior, as it is one\u00a0of just a few contemporary-style dwellings\u00a0on the street.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I walked in, it almost took my breath away,\u201d she says. \u201cThe living room has just soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.\u00a0\u2026 I knew that there would be someone out there that would absolutely love it.\u201d<\/p>\n
