The new construction, designed by architect David Jameson<\/strong>,\u00a0first came onto the market in 2020 for $12.95 million. It\u2019s now back on the market for $9.9 million.<\/p>\n

Chris Leary<\/strong>, listing agent with HRL Partners and Washington Fine Properties, calls it a modern masterpiece. It\u2019s also a unique project for Jameson.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has been building custom homes for the end user for 30 years,\u201d he says. \u201cThis is sort of his baby, his masterpiece after all those years.\u201d<\/p>\n

Leary notes that the home signifies a first for the architect: the decision to build a house on speculation rather than for a particular client.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is [Jameson\u2019s] first spec house he has built for the public to purchase,\u201d Leary says.<\/p>\n

\u2018Above and beyond\u2019<\/h2>\n

Leary has nothing but praise for the remarkable\u00a0home.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s amazing,\u201d he says. \u201cWe sell about 60 or 70 houses a year in my office, and I\u2019ve been doing this for about 18 years, and this is probably my favorite house I have ever listed. It\u2019s above and beyond your typical home in Washington, DC<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jameson\u00a0describes<\/a>\u00a0the home as \u201chabitable art\u201d\u2014an appraisal that truly fits.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s exactly what I felt when I saw it and walked through it for the first time,\u201d Leary says. \u201cIt\u2019s museum quality with drama everywhere on a huge scale.\u00a0But also at the same time, you feel very comfortable, and it\u2019s not pretentious. It\u2019s not intimidating. You feel very peaceful and serene when you\u2019re inside, and that is [Jameson\u2019s] goal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Outside, the six-bedroom structure is wrapped with bronze panels; handmade, English clay-brick tiles; and mahogany windows and doors.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are high ceilings, modern and livable interiors, and walls of glass.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s jaw-dropping is the only way to say it\u2014the scale is wild,\u201d Leary marvels, explaining that Jameson had the home\u2019s glass panels installed with the same crane that was used to construct the Freedom Tower in Manhattan<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cSomething used to build enormous glass lobbies in New York City is building a private residence in Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to the main house, there is an etched-glass cube that serves as a pool house. And the pool itself certainly adds an artful touch.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy very favorite thing about the house, which I\u2019ve never seen in any other house, is one of [Jameson\u2019s] signatures\u2014he puts the pool fairly close to the home,\u201d Leary says, observing that the sun reflects shadows off of the pool onto the ceilings inside the house.<\/p>\n

Each of the home\u2019s three levels is about 3,000 square feet. Most bedrooms, including the primary, are on the second level. The third level has an additional bedroom suite, a recreation room, an office, and a kitchenette.<\/p>\n

\u201cSliding glass walls open out to a 2,000-square-foot roof terrace, and that is also lined with a green roof with succulents and plants,\u201d Leary says, adding that the roof requires no special care. \u201cIt\u2019s a green and environmentally friendly way to protect the roof.\u201d<\/p>\n

This house \u201cis really is for anybody,\u201d Leary insists. \u201cIt\u2019s for somebody who likes to entertain, somebody who loves modern architecture, somebody who loves vistas, and somebody that needs to be within close proximity to downtown Washington, DC. \u2026 You hop in your car, and you\u2019re at the White House in 15 minutes.\u201d<\/p>\n
