The seller bought the property for $2.1 million in 2003 and tapped Malibu architect Edward Niles<\/a>, known as \u201cthe master of glass,\u201d to build the modern masterpiece.<\/p>\n

Totaling 8,206 square feet, the main house (with four bedrooms and 5.5 baths) and the detached guesthouse (one bedroom and one bath) were completed in 2010. The bedrooms are all en suite and feature ocean views.<\/p>\n

\u2018Very strategic\u2019<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really thought out and very strategic,\u201d Hildebrand says about the property\u2019s layout and design. \u201cIt\u2019s really built for longevity \u2026 as low maintenance as possible for a very high-maintenance area.\u201d<\/p>\n

The design\u00a0draws inspiration from the feng shui and shoji concept of translucency, a traditional style of Japanese architecture, the listing notes.<\/p>\n

The uniquely designed property is a rare find in Malibu due to the sheer size of the house, the 0.8-acre lot with 75 feet of beach frontage, and a lawn next to the beach.<\/p>\n

This part of Malibu is also a draw, Hildebrand says. \u201cThe reason why people like it out there is it\u2019s much more rural. The ocean, the trails, and the hillside are more pristine.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also a 20-minute drive to Camarillo Airport, which \u201ccaters to the private-jet community,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

Hildebrand has hopes for an international buyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cCOVID was creating a very localized market, and now that people are investing in travel again, Malibu is a hot place,\u201d says Hildebrand. \u201cThis is one of those architectural-trophy properties any real estate collector would want in their portfolio.\u201d<\/p>\n
