{"id":17204,"date":"2026-08-03T16:46:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/billingsrealtybrokers.paradiseinnovations.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/03\/wildfires-in-washington-state-destroy-hundreds-of-homes-near-spokane-as-nearly-65000-residents-flee\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:46:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:46:22","slug":"wildfires-in-washington-state-destroy-hundreds-of-homes-near-spokane-as-nearly-65000-residents-flee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/billingsrealtybrokers.paradiseinnovations.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/03\/wildfires-in-washington-state-destroy-hundreds-of-homes-near-spokane-as-nearly-65000-residents-flee\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildfires in Washington State Destroy Hundreds of Homes Near Spokane as Nearly 65,000 Residents Flee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A trio of massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/wildfire-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wildfires<\/a> that ignited in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/realestateandhomes-search\/Spokane-County_WA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spokane County, WA<\/a>, over the weekend have destroyed hundreds of homes and businesses and triggered the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realtor.com\/news\/trends\/how-to-prepare-for-natural-disasters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> mass evacuation<\/a> of nearly 65,000 people.<\/p>\n<p>The Autumn Lane Fire, Fairview Fire, and Old Trails Fire together have consumed roughly 8,000 acres of land and were 0% contained as of Monday morning.<\/p>\n<p>So far, no deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with the blazes. The cause of the fires is under investigation. <\/p>\n<p>According to the latest reports, the fires have destroyed more than 700 homes in the impacted area, prompting Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/3428364054217854\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dave Upthegrove <\/a><\/strong>to characterize the unfolding situation as a &#8220;catastrophe.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Earlier updates from county authorities stated that over 600 structures were damaged, including an unknown number of homes, buildings, and businesses. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The final damage toll in Spokane is unknown. What is already clear is that hundreds of families have lost their homes, thousands have been displaced, and an entire community is entering the most difficult days of its disaster,&#8221; says <strong>Brad Kieserman<\/strong>, vice president of Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services Operations and Logistics.<\/p>\n<p>Harrowing photos and videos from Spokane County circulating online show homes engulfed in flames, and neighborhoods wreathed in smoke and strewn with rubble. One resident told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2026\/08\/03\/us\/live-news\/spokane-washington-wildfires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CNN<\/a> that he lost the home he had lived in since 1980, but called recently moving his father into a nursing home a &#8220;blessing&#8221; considering the scale of destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities in Spokane set up a shelter at the city&#8217;s main convention center, which on Sunday housed some 400 evacuees.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, 15 major wildfires are raging across Washington state, covering approximately 250,000 acres, prompting Gov. <strong>Bob Ferguson<\/strong>, a Democrat, to declare a state of emergency.
