For the first time, the remarkable Maui compound of legendary music producer Jerry Moss is on the market.

At $39 million, it’s not only Hawaii’s priciest property, but also that of the entire nation this past week.

Moss—the “M” of A&M Records (co-founder Herb Alpert was the “A”)—reportedly built the estate on a .68-acre parcel he purchased in 1995 for $2.2 million. He bought the lot next door in 2000 and added more properties over the years, according to a Wall Street Journal interview with his wife, Tina Moss. Jerry died in August at the age of 88.

Just a few years ago, they renovated the compound, replacing wood siding with smooth stucco and ipe wood, Tina told the Journal.

The compound comprises four dwellings totaling 6,352 square feet of living space, including seven bedrooms and seven baths. That’s certainly enough space to accommodate and entertain myriad friends and family members.

The dwellings feature island-style embellishments, including surfboards, paddles, carved Tiki heads, and teak detailing.
