Chip and Joanna Gaines just wrapped their hit show “Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse” where they renovated a five-bedroom, five-bathroom, 5,100-square foot property that overlooks Lake Waco in Texas. The stunning 1965 house sits on 1.5 acres and was recently sold to a lucky buyer.

“About a month after the reveal, we sold this home to a wonderful family,” Joanna said on Instagram. “They were a perfect fit. It was quite serendipitous actually. We’re excited to see them live out their story in this beautiful corner of Waco, nestled in the woods, overlooking beautiful Lake Waco.”

These buyers aren’t the only ones flocking to this lakefront paradise off the beaten path. Buzz around the show has attracted new attention to the area, along with a new wave of home shoppers. Local real estate agents have noticed interest in properties for sale around Lake Waco is ticking up.

“Lots of folks are interested in Lake Waco,” says real estate agent Joe Reed, with Weichert Realtors at the Eastland Group in Waco. “I have recently had clients from areas like Washington, California, and Nevada gravitating to the area. Waco is very centrally located. We’re just 90 miles from the big city of Dallas, but we also have that tranquility only lake life can offer.”

Plus, lakefront property here is still a deal, at least compared with more well-known areas.

Realtor.com data shows that the median home list price in Waco is $300,000, trending up 7.1% year over year. But it might not remain that way for long now that Chip and Joanna have put this paradise on Americans’ radar.

“Chip and Joanna have had such a great impact on the area—I have had clients that have specifically bought property in Waco because of the Chip and Joanna connection,” says Reed.
